Sempervivum ciliosum var. borisii is a rare and highly sought-after variety from the mountain regions of Bulgaria, named in honour of Tsar Boris III of Bulgaria. It is distinguished by its dense covering of silvery-white hairs or cilia along the leaf margins, giving the compact rosettes a soft, frosted appearance that catches the light beautifully. This silvery coating is thought to reflect intense mountain sunlight and provide insulation against extreme cold, making it one of the most cold-hardy Sempervivums in existence. A true gem for collectors and alpine garden enthusiasts.

☀️ Sun	Full sun. The silvery colouring is at its best in full sun.
⚠️ Toxicity	Non-toxic to humans, cats, and dogs.
💧 Watering	Very low. Every 2 to 3 weeks in summer, monthly or less in cooler months. Good drainage is essential.
🌱 Fertilising	Rarely needed. A very light feed in spring is optional.
📏 Mature Size	Compact rosettes 5 to 8cm wide. Slowly spreads via offsets.
🌿 Difficulty	Easy to moderate. Requires excellent drainage to perform at its best.
🎨 Colours	Silver-grey to green rosettes with a beautiful fringe of white hairs along the leaf edges.
